Converting Excel sheets into text-based or database-compatible formats can be a tedious task that usually produces mixed results at best. Advanced XLS Converter removes all the tediousness out of the process while guaranteeing high-quality results. The program converts any XLS file into DBF, SQL, TXT, HTML, XML, CSV, or RTF in no time and following all the custom settings and options required to fit your needs.

The program’s simplicity is probably the first thing that grabs your attention as soon as you open the program. Its main interface simply asks you for the source XLS file and the format, name, and location of the output file. All the customization options come later, as soon as you click on the Next button. In the Common Options window that opens next, you will have a preview of the contents of the XLS file and the possibility of sorting the data, skip all duplicates and empty rows (or not), and tell the program that the first row is the header. You may then want to filter the sheet to leave out a specific set of items (by name, file size, or modification date) and customize the type and size of the existing columns, as well as change their order in the output file. Alternatively, you are given the option to use a command-line argument to execute the process.

That is, in a nutshell, everything you can do with Advanced XLS Converter. As bulk conversion is not an option, you’ll have to go through all of these steps every time you wish to convert a new XLS file. Actually, you’ll have to launch the program again first, as it will shut down abruptly and without warning as soon as the conversion process is over and the resulting file has been displayed on your desktop (if you left that option checked, that is).

Advanced XLS Converter is a simple yet efficient tool. Probably not the best designed in terms of usability, but with all the options and features you’ll ever need to convert it to the most common database and text-based formats in a snap.
